Active Matter Latest Update: Current Build and Patch Changes
This page tracks the current Active Matter build and the latest officially confirmed patch changes. It is refreshed in place every time a new build ships, so the URL stays the same — bookmark it instead of hunting for a new "latest patch" article each week.
- Current official build at our last review: 0.4.0.173, released October 5, 2026.
- Official sources checked through: October 6, 2026.
- Verification level: official patch notes only. Nothing on this page is a live-tested claim; where a change needs in-game confirmation we say so.
Patch facts go stale by design. Treat the build number and date above as the review baseline for everything on this site, and check the official news feed when a newer build may have shipped.
Update 0.4.0.173 — October 5, 2026
Confirmed changes from the official patch note:
- Stationary evacuation points in the Headquarters, Airport, and Downtown raids were relocated closer to nearby buildings, with new cover added around them.
- Finding a contract location is easier: hovering a contract in the list now pulses its icons and zones on the map while dimming the rest.
- Molotov Cocktails and Incendiary Grenades ignite splashed targets instantly instead of after a 1–2 second delay.
- Devourers now take damage from flamethrowers and areas of fire.
- Turning on a flashlight, weapon tactical flashlight, or laser sight now ends the short spawn-invisibility period immediately.
- Drones and Binoculars can no longer be used while driving a vehicle.
- Flowermen gathering spots populate as intended, and Flowermen no longer spawn at Investigation points of interest in the Airport raid.
- Mimics and Statues no longer deal melee damage to Operatives inside armored vehicles (base damage statistics unchanged).
- Fixed a misplaced gravity zone in the Dam raid, a map-boundary exploit in Mir Factory (Hired Ops), a Dam ladder climb bug, and an elevator stuck bug in Downtown.
- Interface: contract reward window allows selecting individual items for quick refining; the Missions Terminal shows Open Raid availability against the rotation schedule.
- Stability and performance: client hang and crash fixes, Vulkan artifact fixes on AMD and Intel GPUs, better performance in vegetation-heavy locations, and a fix for a PlayStation crash when completing an Isolated Raid.
Recent official patch history
The official feed shipped the following confirmed changes between launch and the current build:
- 0.4.0.165 (September 30): adjusted Distorted pursuit behavior and noise sensitivity; fire damage from Molotovs and flamethrowers affects monsters more reliably; squeezing past surrounding monster groups restored.
- 0.4.0.163 (September 30): extraction made safer on Dalniy Island — several exposed stationary extraction points moved closer to structures with new cover; Seeds give up the chase sooner; Hellhounds no longer spawn on rooftops; chasing Distorted may teleport ahead of fleeing targets; Shelter building commands moved to a dedicated Controls section; vehicle delivery points added to the Escape from Dogorsk raid.
- 0.4.0.156 (September 26): revised Personal Timeline collapsing — equipped gear moves to a temporary stash after creating a new Timeline, items placed in the Shelter keep their locations, equipped chronogenes are still discarded; rewards for especially dangerous anomalies increased; Workshop fusion moved to its own tab with partial Active Matter costs.
- "The Fundamental Protocol" (September 24): a new unified initiative mapped to the Harmonization Cycles — Merits can be spent there any time, access unlocks at Monolith access level DELTA, and access persists after creating a new Personal Timeline. Added Cycle 0.
- 0.4.0.137 / 0.4.0.135 / 0.4.0.132 (September 21–23): stability fixes, raid reconnection improvements, control improvements, and Shelter placement previews that explain why an item cannot be placed.
- 0.4.0.122 (September 18): experimental Body Sleeve appearance-correction mode activated.
What to recheck on your first run after a patch
1. Extraction habits. The last two patches reworked evacuation points on Headquarters, Airport, Downtown, and Dalniy Island. Old muscle-memory exits may no longer be where you left them — walk the new positions once with a cheap kit. Exact extraction layouts inside a raid are not published in official notes, so in-game observation is still required; we do not print coordinates we have not verified ourselves. 2. Loadout notes. Molotov and incendiary timing changed in 0.4.0.173, and fire now damages Devourers. If your kit or route assumed the old fire behavior, re-test it — see the starter loadout guide. 3. Shelter routines. 0.4.0.156 changed what survives a new Personal Timeline and reworked the Workshop fusion tab. Compare with the shelter guide before spending rare materials. 4. Contract routes. Map and contract UI changes affect how you find objectives, not where they are — but Airport Flowermen spawns and sensor/monster-capture handling have both shifted recently. The map guide collects the confirmed location changes.

All build numbers, dates, and changes on this page come from the official Active Matter news feed, checked through October 6, 2026. This site has not live-tested build 0.4.0.173; practical checks above are editorial guidance, and in-game specifics (extraction layouts, drop feel, performance on your hardware) should be verified in the current build.
