Active Matter Update 0.4.0.78: Patch Notes and What Changed

Published September 14, 2026 · 6 min read

Active Matter is receiving frequent changes around the September 15, 2026 launch. The official news feed lists update 0.4.0.78 with changes to contract sensors, shelter customization, weapons, the Replicator, raid stability, and enemy behavior. This page separates the published changes from practical checks for players.

Confirmed changes

According to the official update note:

  • sensors required for defended contracts are more durable;
  • WWII-era weapons can now appear in raids;
  • Shelter customization has continued to improve;
  • the Refiner and Replicator can be moved during shelter customization;
  • the Replicator has a “Collect All” control;
  • the Alpha Mimic no longer attacks through walls;
  • additional fixes target raid and interface issues.

The same official feed also lists fixes for ammunition-count desync that could break reload animations, incorrect RPG-7 hit registration, duplicate storage or level-up reward behavior, bodies falling through the ground and blocking doors, flamethrower damage passing through walls, black-screen hangs at raid start or while spectating, and monster movement at high ping.

What to recheck after updating

Contract routes

If your contract depends on defending a sensor, do not reuse an old timing assumption. A more durable sensor may change how long a squad can hold the location and how much ammunition or healing the defense consumes. Run the objective once with a baseline kit and note the new reset point.

Shelter layout

Moving the Refiner and Replicator makes it easier to organize the shelter around the path you take after a raid. Reposition them only after you know which station you use most. Keep storage and crafting choices visually separate so a quick collection action does not turn into an accidental conversion.

Replicator collection

Use the new collection control carefully on the first run. Confirm which completed outputs it collects and whether it changes queue behavior. The button reduces clicks, but it does not remove the need to check what was produced.

Weapon expectations

The addition of WWII-era weapons expands the pool; it does not automatically make every new weapon better. Test a new gun with the same route, objective, ammunition budget, and armor used for your baseline. Record control and extraction reliability before publishing a ranking.

Enemy and wall interactions

The Alpha Mimic wall fix and flamethrower wall-damage fix change how safe positions should be evaluated. If an old guide says that a wall completely blocks a threat, verify it in the current build and describe the exact condition instead of repeating the old shortcut.

What not to assume

Patch notes confirm changes, not a complete meta. They do not tell you which weapon is best for every player, how much a route earns, or whether a particular objective is worth contesting in PvP. Those conclusions require controlled runs and a visible build number.

Avoid carrying forward three common errors:

  • treating a bug fix as a new permanent rule;
  • copying a weapon tier list from the previous build;
  • assuming a community screenshot is current because the interface looks similar.

A useful update-day checklist

1. Read the official note and record the build number. 2. Recheck your baseline loadout and shelter recipes. 3. Run one low-cost objective without changing your route. 4. Test any changed interaction from cover. 5. Extract and compare ammunition, damage, and shelter output with your previous note. 6. Update guides only where the live build provides evidence.

Source boundary

All listed changes come from the official Active Matter news feed. The practical checklist is editorial guidance for validating a live-build change; it is not an official patch interpretation.
